Apartment Must-Haves

Here at Arcadia Run, we specialize in luxury apartment living and we want our residents to be just as excited about their new apartment home as we are! Whether you are a seasoned apartment renter, or you have found your first apartment home here at Arcadia Run, we are here to help you gather our top picks for apartment must-haves!

Mirrors – These are the miracle workers of interior design. They can rework any space and are so versatile. Mirrors come in all shapes and sizes and styles to choose from, and the best part? They give the illusion of making spaces look larger and more open.

One awesome piece of artwork – Sometimes people think that they need a lot of decorations throughout the apartment, when in reality; all you need is one statement piece in each room, with accessories to compliment it. Think a nice canvas painting, photo collage, or light fixture.

Area rugs – Area rugs are not only comfortable, they help define a space and add some style to any room. Area rugs are great for underneath of a coffee table or in hallways to transition your style from room to room. Check out all of our available floor plans here!

A spot for mail & keys – Any home needs a space for important things so that they don’t get misplaced! Create a spot by the front door to keep mail and put your keys so that you always know where they are. You can use a nice basket, or look into hang-able wall options.

Cleaning supplies – It sounds silly, but you really do need to think about cleaning supplies when moving into an apartment. Luckily, there are so many multipurpose cleaning solutions and products that you can pretty much use throughout your entire apartment. Apartments at Arcadia Run also have lots of storage space, so you can fit all of your cleaning supplies with no problem.

Kitchen gear – Before buying things for your kitchen, think about how much you cook, what types of food you cook, and which kitchen supplies will be versatile for you. It’s also important to keep focused on quality rather than quantity, so you don’t have to re-buy poor quality kitchen utensils that might break. The 42” designer kitchen cabinets in Arcadia Run’s brand new apartment homes will hold everything you need!

First aid — You never know when an accident will happen. If you accidentally cut yourself, fall & scrape your leg, or have no idea where that scratch came from, you are going to want to have medical supplies on hand right away.

A personal touch – This is the most important apartment must-have! Your apartment home at Arcadia Run will be your space and personal oasis. The space should reflect your personal style and living needs. New apartment homes at Arcadia Run already come with amazing features, so the rest is up to you!

Redecorate Your Apartment: Fall 2015

We love the fall season at Arcadia Run and it is quickly approaching here in Manassas, VA! When the seasons change, so do your home needs. If you want your new apartment home to reflect the season, with just the right amount of your personal style, here are some easy tips to make your apartment cozy and warm this fall!

Add layers – Just like you will be adding layers of clothing to your wardrobe for chillier months, you can layer your apartment too! Add comfy area rugs, blankets, and pillows to keep your apartment warm and inviting.

Rethink your colors – If you want some trendy ideas for fall, take a look at Pantone’s Fall 2015 colors to use for room accents, like a blanket or a vase. If you’re feeling extra ambitious, repaint a piece of old furniture to add more color to the apartment.

Seasonal décor – You can never go wrong with the classic autumn décor, like pumpkins, fall foliage, and a wreath for the front door. You can go as big or as subtle as you want with these fall inspired details.

Cover it up – If you have any wooden seating in your home, consider a slipcover or seat cushion to add a little more comfort. Slipcovers can also add an instant color makeover to any couch or chair!

Replace scents – Gone are the days when your air fresheners, hand soaps, and candles smell like a fruity cocktail or the ocean breeze. Replace the scents in your home with pumpkin, spice, and everything nice!

Flowers – Bringing in seasonal fresh flowers can brighten up any room. To add a little twist, put dried flowers in a vase for a rustic feel.

Frame your summer memories – With the warm weather on the outs, you will most likely be spending more time inside. Print out your favorite summer photos and place them in frames around your apartment.

At Arcadia Run we want you to be the most prepared that you have ever been for the upcoming school year. Although it is a busy season, you should still enjoy it without the stress! We rounded up some of the important things to remember for back to school:

  • Plan meals– During the weekend, take a few minutes to plan out packed lunches and dinner ideas for the rest of the week. This way you can do grocery shopping on the weekend for stress free cooking during the week.
  • Get appointments over with– Schedule doctor, dentist, eye & orthodontist appointments as soon as you get the schedule for the school year. This way you can work around extracurricular activities and work with days off to get necessary appointments over with.

6 Ways to Beat the End of Summer Heat at Arcadia Run

Everyone know that August and early September can get super hot, especially here in Manassas, VA! We have some great tips on how to beat the heat for the last few weeks of the summer at Arcadia Run!

Outside your apartment

  •  Take a dip in the pool: Our brand new resort style pool is perfect for cooling off! You can swim some laps, dip your feet in, or float around on a raft. No matter what you prefer, our pool is going to be a refreshing escape from the heat.
  • Go for a hike: Virginia includes some of the most diverse landscapes, from farms to mountains and beaches. Convenient for Arcadia Run residents, Hemlock Overlook Regional Parkis located right here in Manassas! It’s a great place to take a hike through the shade of a forest and discover some of Virginia’s beautiful nature trails.
  • Watch a movie: Luckily for Arcadia Run residents, we have a brand new theater room in our clubhouse! Grab a group of friends and chill out in the clubhouse as you lounge and watch your favorite flick.

Inside your apartment

  • Block sunny windows: If staying inside is more your thing to do to avoid the swelter outside, block the sunlight from coming in with curtains or blinds. This will keep your new apartment home nice and cool.
  • Limit oven use: Although our new apartments here at Arcadia Run are equipped with state of the art kitchen appliances, oven use in any home will contribute to heat. Eat more fresh foods while it’s hot out, like a nice summer salad or sushi, so you’re not cooking (food or yourself) in the heat.
  • Buy indoor plants: The energy plants need to survive is from sunlight and water, but they also keep the air around themselves cool. The air around plants is cooler because instead of reflecting the energy (heat) in the air, they absorb it.
